Britain's youngest grandparents:granny @ 30, granddad @ 29

Jordan, bottom left, with Tia and Gracie, and proud grandparents Shem and Kelly

An unemployed man, 29, has become one of Britain's youngest grandparents after his daughter gave birth at 14.Shem Davies and his former girlfriend Kelly John, 30, were overjoyed when their daughter Tia, who was born when her parents were 15, gave birth to little Gracie earlier this month. Tia's boyfriend, Jordan Williams, is 15.Shem said: 'It is an absolute joy to see Gracie thriving. I'm incredibly proud of Tia. She'll be a brilliant mum. At first I wasn't overly pleased that she was pregnant but I soon got over than. Now it's all about being positive

Jordan and Tia with their newborn daughter Gracie who was born prematurely

'I've got to know Jordan and he's shaping up to be a decent young man,' Shem told The People.
However, nurses at the maternity unit were left embarrassed after they thought the young grandfather was in fact the teenage father of Gracie.Apparently when he entered the ward they thought the 29-year-old looked so fresh-faced they asked him to prove he was over the age of 16.
But the arrival of Gracie wasn't easy as Tia was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia, seven weeks before her due date. Happily after a 25 minute operation Gracie was born but only weighed 2lb and was rushed to the special care unit at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend, which is close to the family home.
Little Gracie is still being kept in an incubator but has managed to put on enough weight which means she will be allowed home in a few weeks. A week after Gracie was born Tia celebrated her 15th birthday in the ward surrounded by friends and family.

Despite her young age, mother Tia says that she would not be happy if newborn Gracie became pregnant at 14 but that she would do as her mum did, which is respect her choice to have a child.
She also paid tribute to her mother, who was 15 when she was born, saying that she could not have wished for a better parent and role model adding that they have a very close relationship.
Britain's high teenage pregnancy rate means that many more young people in this generation are set to become grandparents in their late twenties and early thirties.
The latest figures show in 2009 38,259 girls under 18 became pregnant, but nearly 50 per cent had a termination. The UK still leads the way when it comes to young mothers, and our rate is five-times higher than in the Netherlands and twice that of France and Spain

Emeka Enyiocha opens Nollywood's first hip bar/hangout

Leading hunk Emeka Enyiocha made history with his recent opening of Happy Hour, Nollywood’s first hip bar/hangout. Located in the heart of Surulere, Lagos, the strictly by membership joint, according to the actor-turned-club owner, will be officially opened to A-List stars and celebrities on August 14.
In a related development, Enyiocha, whose lawyer wife recently delivered their second child-a baby boy-would be dedicating his crown prince at the family’s church, after which an elaborate reception will hold at Happy Hour.
On why he decided to open and operate a bar, the co-producer of monster hit movie-Champions of our time, explained that the need to diversify and assist his A-List colleagues to relax better after a day’s hard work gave birth the idea.
As an entertainer, I travel a lot and usually enjoy the way stars are treated and pampered in exclusive bars, joints and clubs, solely reserved for them, their pals and family members.
I want my colleagues to enjoy such treatments here at Happy Hour”

Soulja boy buys $35M private jet, drops $20M to pimp out his ride

Soulja boy had two albums out since but they haven’t done as well as his first album by a long shot, pretty confident in his money situation despite the fact that his career never really took off after he made that crappy rap song about not cleaning up after he does his business on a girl’s back. He bought a $35 million private jet, dropped an additional $20 million to pimp out his ride with all sorts of cool stuff … like 12 custom Italian leather seats, flat screen TVs, 4 liquor bars, a special travertine tiled floor, and Brazilian hardwood cabinets. Recession no reach ur side, nawahoo

Rihanna finally gives up kool-aid hair

I suspect that she does wigs and weaves at various times, but I also think she actually dyed her natural hair to that God-awful Kool-Air red-pink shade, and then she kept it like that for more than a year. So what is going on with her hair in this photo (from last night in Beverly Hills)? Is this a new wig, or did Rihanna dye her hair back to a color found in nature? Whatever is happening, though, Rihanna looks good. I really like the idea of this outfit too - great booty shorts, cute top

Adebayo Faleti: Toasting an octogenarian talent @ 80

Many students of Yoruba and lovers of culturally-rich films produced by the talented cinematographer, Tunde Kelani, will no doubt be familiar with the enviable manner in which prolific poet, actor, and writer, Adebayo Faleti, weaves the beauty of the language.
He is so fluent in its traditions that it will be difficult to believe that he did not study it in the university. Faleti , who attended the University of Dakar, Senegal , where he studied French , and the University of Ibadan is, a master in the poetics of Yoruba language.

His intellectual and creative fervour will be underlined on Wednesday at the UI, Theatre Arts Department when the first day of a two-day event celebrating his 80th birthday opens. That day, he will not be performing as he did in Saworo-Ide, Agogo-Ewo and Afonja, among others, but the audience, including him, are expected to reflect on a film titled, ‘‘Fere bi ekun.’’

The programme, organised by the Grand Council of Yoruba Youths, in conjunction with the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, will, on Thursday , at the university’s Conference Centre, feature a public lecture titled, Ipa Ribibi ti Iwa Omoluwabi ati Asa nko Ninu Idagbasoke Orile Ede (The importance of good conduct and culture for national development ).
A statement signed by the Dean, Faculty of Arts, UI, Prof. Adedotun Ogundeji, and the President of GCYY, Mr. Awa Bamiji, indicated that the event was designed to celebrate Faleti as a one of the most distinguished leaders in Yoruba land.
It pointed that the oral poet had come a long way in taking Yoruba Arts and Culture to another level.
According to the statement, Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, will be the guest speaker while the chairman of the occasion is the National Leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Armed Robbers invaded daddy Showey's house

Gunmen numbering five yesterday stormed the home of Ajegunle Soldier, John Odafe Asiemo otherwise known as Daddy Showkey and killed one of his aides named Wale Suraj.
According to source, the gunmen arrived the Bola Street, Victory Estate home of Showkey at about 1.30pm, on a motor bike otherwise known as okada, and gained entrance through the main gate when Showkey’s first son, Raymond Asiemo, who went on an errand, was about entering the house.

On arrival they were said to have asked the 14-year old Raymond for the owner of the house, at gun point and the boy told them that the house is an uncompleted building and that some people are working inside the building.
Source said Raymond went inside the building to inform Wale and one other person who were doing some renovation work inside the main building.
As soon as the two men who thought that the gunmen were policemen arrived, one of them fired a shot that hit Wale on the right arm and they fled on realizing that Showkey’s security guard, who had scaled the fence, raised an alarm to attract neighbours.
The injured Wale was rushed to Royan Hospital, Ojodu and he was later referred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, (LASUTH) Ikeja, where he died. Showkey, who was not at home when the incident happened, confirmed the report.
“I don’t know their mission but my concern is, why did they kill Wale? It is terrible, I am sad. I can’t say anything for now,” he reacted.
The case was later reported at the Ojodu Police Divisional Headquarters, Grammar School, Bus Stop, Ojudu, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

Monalisa: I could have been butchered

Three dead,10 houses burnt as tanker crashes in Enugu

No fewer than three charred bodies have so far been recovered from an early morning fire that started from a fallen oil tanker close to the Enugu Prisons in Enugu.
The fire, which involved a truck with registration number XT 968 JJJ (Lagos), started at about 7am.
A Deputy Police Commissioner, Mr. Stephen Ekpei, who was at the scene, confirmed the deaths to the News Agency of Nigeria. He denied rumours that the fire was the handiwork of Boko Haram.
”There is no bomb scare in Enugu. It was just a tanker load of diesel that fell and eventually ignited a fire,” he said.Ekpei advised residents of the coal city to get about their normal business as the situation was under control.Commandant, Enugu Command of the Civil Defence Corps, Mr. Sikiru Raimi, told NAN that the incident occurred when a tanker load of diesel lost control while negotiating a roundabout.

”The tanker fell spilling the product that eventually caught fire,” he said.
According to him, it was unfortunate that the fire followed the spilling fuel to some of the houses close to the scene. He also confirmed evacuating three corpses that were burnt beyond recognition. Raimi said the members of the fire service arrived in good time to battle the blaze.
Enugu State Commissioner for Rural Development, Dr Eric Oluedo, who was at the scene, blamed the incident to carelessness of the driver.”It was caused by careless driving. We should take education to every level in this country. We should educate all our drivers and artisans.
”This thing is avoidable. How can an articulated truck negotiate a turn in top speed, only for it to skid.
”I‘m happy that my men (firemen) responded in time to battle the fire,” Oluedo said.
He, however, noted that the blaze was overwhelming, adding ”You know this is gas and highly flammable.”
The Comptroller of Prisons in Enugu State, Mr Chris Ntewo, said it was a pity the incident occurred, adding, ”I thank God that all security operatives were mobilised to the scene. All inmates of the prisons are intact.”
A NAN correspondent at the scene reports that as the fire spread, nearby houses in the prisons quarters were badly affected.
There was wailing and shouting as bodies of those that were burnt where retrieved by medical teams from the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Police and Civil Defence.
The Dog Section of Prisons Service, VIOs and NEMA officials were also at the scene to lend helping hands. They were either containing the fire, evacuating the injured.

Plumber builds the world's longest motorbike with 25 seats

A plumber has built the world's LONGEST motorbike - which is an incredible 22 metres (72ft) long.
Colin Furze, 31, spent a month building the 25-seater bike, which is as long as a tennis court!
He used one-and-a-half 125cc mopeds which he extended using an aluminium frame and drove the bike a MILE along the runway at Saltby Airfield in Grantham, Lincs
He managed to get the bike, which is worth around £3,000, up to 35mph, but found it almost impossible to steer.'When I first got on it I thought it would never work and at a slow speed it's almost impossible to keep upright.'But once you get going it becomes a bit easier, although it is a real strain on your arms as it has such heavy steering

'It wobbled a huge amount as I drove along and apparently the back of the bike was weaving around all over the place.
'It is very difficult to handle and it would be hard to ride on the roads as you need about six widths of road to turn. I think it is really built for Roman roads.'
Colin constructed the massive motorcycle, which takes three people to move, in his mum's back garden.
He had to cut the bikes and construct the aluminium frame, which has been made in three parts then bolted together
To make it into the record books, Colin had to drive the bike 100 metres, but amazingly he managed to ride more than a mile.He will now send the video along with signed witness statements to Guinness World of Records, so they can verify it.
Colin already holds the world record for the fastest mobility scooter, which he built to go at a remarkable 71mph.'This motorbike was so heavy and difficult to drive I think it would be impossible to make a longer bike. I think this record will stand for a very long time," he added.
According to Guinness World of Records the longest motorbike in the world until now was 14 metres.

Baby dies after getting trapped against chest of drawers

A baby died just hours after standing up for the first time when he climbed out of his cot and got trapped against a chest of drawers.Noah Ivey was just eight months old and just starting to crawl when he was killed in the freak accident.
He climbed out of his cot onto the chest while still in his baby sleeping bag then fell with his chin trapped against the edge of the chest, preventing him from breathing.
His horrified parents Fiona and Neal found him trapped, lying limp and lifeless when they went to get him up the next morning, an inquest heard today.

Plymouth coroner Mr Ian Arrow recorded a verdict of accidental death on Noah, who died at the family home in Granby Street, Devonport, in Devon, in February.
He warned other parents of the fresh dangers they face as soon as a child starts to become mobile after being told Noah had raised himself onto his feet on his own as he climbed up a sofa just before he went to bed that night. He said: 'When children reach the point of becoming mobile there comes a time when they may move from a safe environment into a potentially dangerous environment.
'I hope other parents will be alert to that having heard the tragic circumstances of this case.
'It must have been such a very great shock for the parents to find Noah in such an unusual position that morning.'Pathologist Dr Martin Webber said Noah died from 'positional asphyxia'.
He said: 'I note that he had been observed to pull himself up to stand for the first time shortly before his death.'It is possible he climbed onto the chest of drawers then fell between it and the cot.'
Dr Carolyn Adcock, who met the family when they came into Derriford Hospital, said: 'Noah's parents saw him pull himself up onto his feet for the first time at 4.45 pm the previous day.
'He had been crawling for a few days.
'His mother went into his room a 1.30 am and heard him breathing but at 6.30 am she went to his cot and he was not there.'She thought he was with Neal but when she discovered he was not she went back in and put on the light and found him suspended between the cot and the chest of drawers which they used as a changing table.'She was distraught and screamed for her husband who found the baby floppy and cold.
'We believe he climbed from his cot onto the chest. It is difficult to envisage how he fell feet first through the gap but he may have been lying obliquely across the chest.
'He then fell so his chin came to rest on the edge of the chest. The gap was not large enough for his head to get through.'Detective Constable Kate Hillman said it was likely Noah woke early and pulled himself out of the cot before falling into the gap.
Noah's father Neal, a recruitment consultant, and grandfather Roger, are now raising money to put up a memorial bench in Devonport Park.
Speaking at the inquest Roger Ivey said: 'We are all extremely grateful to the police and everyone else who has helped us. 'It has given us a good feeling about the way in which our society works.'

Alexander McQueen left $85,000 in a trust for his 3 dogs

Last year, fashion designer Alexander McQueen committed suicide. It was a devastating tragedy, and his friends, coworkers and family are still picking up the pieces after his death. McQueen’s will has just been made public, and it turns out that McQueen had gotten all of his affairs in order before his suicide, including making financial arrangements for the charities closest to his heart, as well as making sure his dogs would be taken care of. He left about $26 million to animal charities, plus $82,000 in a trust to whoever took care of his dogs. It’s said that his dogs were one of the last concerns McQueen had, and his suicide note consisted of “Look after my dogs, sorry, I love you, Lee.” Yeah. I’m crying.

His puppies: Minter, a mongrel; Juice, an English bull terrier; and Callum, a Rhodesian ridgeback. The charities: Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and The Blue Cross, both charities that work with finding animals a home. He also donated money to the London Buddhist Center and his own Sarabande charity - he requested that Sarbande create scholarships and grants for design students. He also left 50,000 pounds each to his two housekeepers, and made arrangements for his godson, nieces, nephews and his three sisters and two brothers.

Husband stabbed wife to death after she refused his offer of a cup of tea

A husband was jailed for life today for stabbing his wife to death in a 'silly row' when she refused his offer of a cup of tea.Retired lorry driver Dewi Evans, 61, knifed wife Jackie in a 'spontaneous eruption of violence' when she refused his offer of an afternoon brew.
A court heard Evans had become 'jealous and obsessed' over Jackie, 57, his wife of 41 years
Evans had accused the mother-of-two of seeing other men and had even tracked her daily movements with binoculars.

The pair were at home together watching afternoon TV when Evans became furious when Jackie refused his offer of a cup of tea.He picked up a knife and plunged it into her neck, leaving her to die in a pool of blood on her living room floor.
The couple's son Carl found her body and ran out of the house shouting: 'My mother is stretched out. My father has stabbed my mother.'

Evans told police he and his wife had a 'silly row' over a cup of tea and he picked up a lock-knife to frighten her.
Swansea Crown Court heard Jackie suffered four deep stab wounds to the throat, one even penetrating the upper spine.
Evans, of Pontyberem, Carmarthenshire, denied murder claiming his wife's behaviour had made him lose control.
But he was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison with as recommendation he serves a minimum 11 years.
Judge Mr Justice Lloyd Jones told Evans: 'What happened was a spontaneous eruption of violence.
'Your wife's pointless death has cast a shadow over members of your family. The effect of what you have done has been devastating.'
A Dyfed Powys Police spokesman said after the case: 'This has been a very difficult time for the family and those close to them. Our thoughts remain with them.'

Italian University offers Ice cream course

Thousands of sweet-toothed students from around the world are travelling to Italy to take up a place at a university offering a course in ice cream making
This year, around 12,000 enroled to study at the Gelato University, hoping to become schooled in the art of making real Italian ice cream. The university is near Bologna at the headquarters of Carpigiani, the leading global manufacturer of ice cream making machines.

As well as practical courses, students attend technical lectures to learn traditional methods of making gelato. Marketing and management are also on the curriculum.
The courses cost around £700-a-week and students - who come from as far afield as Australia and Sierra Leone - stay in a local hotel.
"The people who come here are people who want a career change," said university director Kaori Ito.
"The average age is 35-40. They are ready to drop what they're doing and open a new chapter in their lives."
Holy Randrianasolo, 44, who works as a textile industry executive, dreams of setting up the first gelato parlour in her native Madagascar.
She said: "My plan is to open an Italian ice cream parlour in Antananarivo. It's for a certain class of people, you could say a certain social class, as it's not for everyone."
For others, like Yasmeena Abdel Ghani - who lives in Dubai - the classes are more about pleasure than business. She is attending the course with her husband on holiday, to learn how to make real Italian ice cream so she can impress her dinner party guests when she gets home.
Those who want to open their own ice cream parlours may have to invest heavily in their dreams, but the rewards can be huge.
As well as the satisfaction of making their own delicious sweet creations, a litre of ice cream costs little to make and can be sold for a tasty profit.

Woman celebrates divorce by asking new partner to tattoo her ENTIRE body

A mother-of-two has celebrated her divorce by getting a full-body tattoo - from her new boyfriend
Jacqui Moore, 41, has had 85 per cent of her flesh inked with a continuous black and grey 'full body-suit' tattoo, a process which has taken eight years.Just her left armpit, half her right leg and most of her face has been left uncovered. But she hopes to complete the tattoo by getting the final 15 per cent of her body daubed next Spring.Jacqui, a gardener at a private school in Oxford, fell for tattooist Andreas Moore, nicknamed 'Curly', 45, after divorcing from her husband Martin in March 2003 after a seven-year marriage

She said: 'I went to get a new tattoo to symbolise my freedom and the new chapter in my life. When I got to the parlour I met Curly and we fell in love and he has been tattooing me since

'Lots of people treat me differently: some are very nice, while I get a lot of funny looks from other people. Some people even tell me I look disgusting.
'But I am proud of my body - I see it as a work of art. My eldest says she is not too keen on it but she has two tattoos herself, so she can't object that much.'
Curly spent 35 hours tattooing her right leg with swirling Indian and Tibetan flowers
Her complex single tattoo includes a swarm of dragonflies on her back and a large spider's web etched onto her stomach with tarantulas crawling over her midriff.
Jacqui even has a tattoo of an open eye inside her right armpit.
Curly doesn't charge Jacqui for her tattoos - if he did, she would have racked up a staggering £13,440 bill.
Jacqui said: 'I love seeing my body change every time Curly tattoos me. It's an incredible journey of self-discovery.'My employers respect my art and are happy for me to continue with my project

Another film producer sent to Kirikiri

Budding artistes, mostly young ladies, have accused a film director, Endurance Egem, of not only ripping them off through collection of money but also subjecting them to sexual harassment.
Some of them subsequently approached the Igando Police Division to lodge their complaint and Endurance, was later arrested and arraigned before the Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court on a two-count charge of fraud and stealing.
He was remanded in prison custody because he failed to meet the bail conditions. The alleged offences, according to the police, are punishable under Section 419 and 390 of the Criminal Code, CAP C17, laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

The 29-year old Endurance advertised for young and up-coming home movie actors and actresses whom he will feature in a movie and promised to turn them into stars in the movie industry.
The prospective young artists, especially young girls, allegedly trooped to his office at 1, Chris Bee Street, Igando, on the outskirts of Lagos to register, we gathered.
He demanded certain amount of money for logistics and promised each of them a leading role that will make him/her an instant celebrity in the entertainment industry.
Apart from allegedly defrauding some of them, he was alleged to have slept with some ladies who did not have the money to pay.
He allegedly collected money and had sex with some of the ladies but could not fulfill his promise to them.
The matter was exposed when the aggrieved victims besieged his office to demand for a refund of their money and in the process a fight ensued.
The matter was reported at Igando Police station and Endurance was arrested and charged to court.
Some of the victims include Chioma Nwachukwu who told the police that Endurance collected N56,000 from her.Another victim, Stella Chris said she paid him N60,000.
Other victims who also allegedly paid Endurance money in exchange for roles in his movie include ThankGod Eze – N50,000, Adeshina Adeoye – N30,000, Theresa Okon – N60,000 and Okori Raphael – N120,000.
we also gathered from one of the victims who did not want her name mentioned, that apart from obtaining money from her he also engaged her and some other girls in a sex romp.
When the matter came up at the court, he pleaded not guilty.
The presiding magistrate, Mrs. S. O. Solebo granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum while the case was adjourned

HIV monster who infected woman with virus and had unprotected sex with 7 others is jailed

A man who knowingly gave a woman HIV, and may have infected seven others, has been jailed for four years.
His victim only found out that she had caught the virus after she read his text messages.
Zimbabwean Nkosinati Mabanda, 44, was sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm. The court had heard that he showed a 'blasé attitude' towards HIV.
His victim, a woman from Darlaston in the West Midlands, discovered he was HIV positive after finding a text from his secret fiancee on his mobile phone.

The two women began to talk and his fiancee advised the victim to get an HIV test. The test came back positive and Mabanda was immediately reported to police in April 2009.
Mabanda, of no fixed address, told detectives he had sex with seven more women, but they have so far been impossible to trace. He was also handed an anti-social behaviour order which prohibits him from engaging in sexual activity with any person without first disclosing his HIV status to that person.
After his release, details of the sentence will be passed to the Home Secretary, who will consider whether Mabanda should be deported
Speaking after sentencing, superintendent Jan Thomas-West said: 'The particularly disturbing element of this case is Mabanda's blatant disregard towards his victim and his various other partners.
'Mabanda told officers that he had had sex with nine women in the UK and that seven of them had not known he was HIV positive. Unfortunately, these women were impossible to trace

Lauryn Hill gives birth to Baby No. 6

Lauryn Hill and her baby boy are both doing well after a frightening delivery on Saturday.the singer welcomed her sixth child on July 23. Although "mother and baby are fine," the little boy was delivered with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. "All is well now and everyone is happy.Anyway, the controversy back two months ago was that Rohan seemed to be kinda/sorta denying paternity for Lauryn’s sixth pregnancy.
Some claimed he was denying paternity, but I thought he was just kind of being a dick to a Hip Hop Wired journalist on Twitter.Lauryn just gave birth. Nearly at the same time, Rohan seemingly went public with his new relationship. It seems he’s dating Isabeli Fontana, a Brazilian model, probably best known for her work on multiple Victoria’s Secret campaigns.Rohan later wrote on Twitter, “I’m forwarding all well wishes to Ms. Hill on the birth of her new son. I’m sure she’ll appreciate the love being sent to her RASTAFARI R.M.” On the birth of HER new son? Meaning he still doesn’t acknowledge the son as his? Ugh. Also, Rohan seems to be threatening lawsuits if media outlets don’t get their facts straight, which is weird because NO ONE CAN FIGURE ANYTHING OUT. No one knows if he’s still married to his first wife, if he and Lauryn are still technically together, if he’s known to be with a Brazilian model, nothing
