Britney Spears engaged to Jason Trawick

US recording artist and pop entertainer Britney Spears is once again engaged.

The news about the 30-year-old singer and her boyfriend Jason Trawick getting engaged was made public via Spears’ Twitter page as she personally made the announcement.

‘OMG. Last night Jason surprised me with the one gift I’ve been waiting for. Can’t wait to show you! SO SO SO excited!!!! Xxo’, @britneyspears tweeted.

Trawick, Spears former manager confirmed the news via text when he was reached by ‘Access Hollywood’ host Billy Bush. ‘Yes, we are engaged’, Trawick said.

Spears’ spokesman is yet to make any comments.

The singer who recently turned 30 was previously married to dancer Kevin Federline for two years, with whom she has two children. The singer in 2004 had spontaneously married childhood friend Jason Alexander during a trip to Las Vegas in 2004. The marriage however only lasted 55 hours before the singer annulled the union.

Husband chops off wife's fingers to stop her studying for a degree

A jealous husband is facing life in prison after chopping off his wife's fingers because she began studying for a degree without his permission.
Rafiqul Islam, 30, blindfolded his wife Hawa Akhter, 21, and taped her mouth, telling her he was going to give her a surprise present.
Instead he made her hold out her hand and cut off all five fingers. One of his relatives then threw Ms Akhter's fingers in the dustbin to ensure doctors could not reattach them.


Mr Islam, who is a migrant worker in the United Arab Emirates, had warned his wife there would 'severe consequences' if she did not give up her studies.
'After he came back to Bangladesh, he wanted to have a discussion with me,' Ms Akhter told The Times.
'Suddenly, he blindfolded me and tied my hand. He also taped my mouth saying that he would give me some surprise gifts. But, instead he cut off my fingers.'
Mohammed Saluddin, the Bangladesh police chief said that Mr Islam had confessed after he was arrested in the capital, Dhaka, and will face charges of permanent disfiguration.
Human rights groups are demanding life imprisonment.
'He was enraged. He was jealous because while he only had a grade eight standard education, she was off to college to pursue higher studies,' said Mr Saluddin.
Ms Akhter says she is learning to write with her left hand and is determined to resume her studies. She is now back at her parent's house.
The attack is the latest in a series of acts targeting educated women in the Muslim-majority company.
In June, an unemployed man gouged out the eyes of his wife, an assistant professor at Dhaka University, apparently because he could not stand her pursuing higher studies at a Canadian University.

AAMMA - Mercy Johnson is most outstanding Actress in Africa

Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson Okojie has emerged the Most Outstanding Actress of the outgoing year.
Mercy who is one of the hottest faces in the Nigerian movie industry, won the award at the prestigious Afro-Australian Music and Movies Awards (AAMMA) which held in Australia recently.
The Afro-Australian Music and Movies Awards is the only African awards event in the whole of Australia and New Zealand. The award recognizes Mercy Johnson as Africa’s Queen of the screen which is a symbolic recognition. The event was the third edition of AAMMA, and it held at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney, Australia.

Though MJ regrettably was absent at the awards ceremony, owing to some circumstances beyond her control, Nollywood baby-face actor, Desmond Elliot received the award on her behalf.

Tosin Oyelowo, Nigerian Pharmacy Student jumps from Bridge in the US

Olutosin “Tosin” Oyelowo, a Nigerian national reportedly jumped from the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge on Friday .The 25-year-old MUSC student was last seen by motorists and pedestrians leaping from the Bridge, a Mount Pleasant police report states.
Calls reporting the jumping were received around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, according to reports. Police found Oyelowo’s purse and driver’s license at the summit of the bridge in the area where callers reported seeing her jump.
Police located Oyelowo’s 2007 Toyota Yaris at a convenience store in Mount Pleasant where many pedestrians park to walk along the bridge’s pedestrian path.
Water searches for Oyelowo by Mount Pleasant and Charleston police, as well as the U.S. Coast Guard, have not been successful in the days since the jumping was reported.Nobody knows yet why a woman with great prospects decides to kill herself.

Radio presenter, Tosyn Bucknor survives ghastly auto crash

Popular radio presenter Tosyn Bucknor cheated death recently when she survived a ghastly auto crash in the early hours of Wednesday, December 14, 2011.
According to sources,the unfortunate incident involved her car tumbling on the third mainland bridge after it had skidded and hit the culvet; this was a result of diesel which spilled on the road hours earlier.
Her car reportedly landed on its back. We're told Tosyn stayed trapped inside the vehicle with her arm, partly fractured. It took the help of a passerby to rescue her out of the car.
She was then put in an ambulance which arrived at the scene moments later and rushed to St. Luke's Hospital, Sabo-Yaba, Lagos.
Witnesses were astonished that someone could survive such a fatal accident with just minor injury

44-year old woman arrested for faking pregnancy to earn a living

A 44-year old woman and mother of three children has been arrested by the police at the domestic wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, for faking pregnancy to earn a living as a beggar.
The suspect, Mrs. Kemi Durojaye, was nabbed yesterday begging for alms at airport road in Ikeja with pieces of torn clothes she used to deceive passers-by stitched to her stomach.
Passers-by who have been seeing and giving her alms over the past three months were made to believe that she was near delivery time.

She claimed that she has no family member or job in Lagos and is begging to survive.
“I don’t have anybody to help and I wouldn’t steal,” Durojaye said.
“I was brought from Ikare to Lagos last year by a woman called Jumoke Omotosho to work. But when I got to Lagos, she told me to engage in prostitution and I refused.
“I found myself alone in Lagos with no money and I became a hairdresser but I lost that job and have nobody to feed me and I started this business.
“Every day, I will make about N500 and it allows me to eat and make ends meet.
“I came from Ikare and I now live in the market. I have no house.
 “I used to follow men that liked me but I just got tired and started begging.
“Those who know me at 8, Ipodo Street in Ikeja where I live in the market don’t know I am into this.
“But I had no choice but to do this or die,” she added.

Man arrested for allegedly attempting to strangle pregnant wife ,who denied him sex

The police at Ajao Estate division, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria have arrested a businessman, Solomon Iwuchukwu,  for allegedly attempting to strangle his pregnant wife, Ifeoma, who denied him sex.
The 54-year old Solomon who hails from Mbaise in Imo State and  lives at 21, Anthony Udoh Street, Ajao Estate, told the police at the station that since he returned from abroad, his pregnant wife had refused to have sex with him. He said that she locks her room and always refuse him entry. “And she doesn’t come into my room to sleep, either,” he added.Ifeoma, 33, is eight months pregnant and expecting her baby.

The businessman became a guest of the police when he allegedly forced his way into his wife’s room and attempted to have sex with her by force. He allegedly held her by the neck and attempted to strangle her before she was rescued by her sister living with them. It took the intervention of a team of police officers from Ajao Estate Station who raced to their house and arrested Solomon to bring the situation under control.
The shocked woman, it was gathered, took her two kids to the station for protection and told the police that she will not go back to their house because Solomon threatened to kill her and her unborn baby.
Narrating her ordeal to P.M.NEWS, Ifeoma disclosed that her problem started last year when her husband returned from abroad and opened a sachet water factory at Sango, Ogun State.
She said he could not manage the business and it collapsed. She said the money he invested in the business went down the drain and he started blaming her for his woes. “Since then he turned his anger on me,” she stated. She explained that she had been a constant victim of battering by her husband and she had no place to go with her two children because she is an orphan.
She said appeals by her relations and police to her husband to stop beating her fell on deaf ears.  She also denied starving him of sex, as he claimed and wondered why he should still be sleeping with her at this advanced stage of her pregnancy, adding that he knew her medical history of losing pregnancies before delivery.. “He doesn’t treat me as his wife at all and believes that I am his property to be used at will,” she added.
She said she is helpless because of her condition and did not know what to do.
Meanwhile, a non-governmental organisation, International Charitable Initiative for Girl-child and Women Foundation has stepped into her case.
During her visit to the station to see the embattled housewife, the president of the Foundation, Barrister Helen Ibeji, described the action of the husband who is detained at at the station as inhuman, barbaric and uncalled for.
She disclosed that her foundation decided to intervene in the matter to protect the woman and the unborn child.
“A man should treat his wife with respect and dignity,” she submitted. When asked to comment on the matter, the divisional police officer, Mr. Oliver Amaechi declined but assured that his men were investigating the matter and will take appropriate action.

My condition is improving - Enebeli Elebuwa

Veteran Nollywood actor, Enebeli Elebuwa is recuperating after he suffered a stroke some weeks ago.
The actor confirmed the status in a telephone interview with Source.
He said, “My condition is improving. I am getting better. There is really a lot of improvement now.”
Asked when he would be discharged, his doctors said they are still monitoring him.He also expressed gratitude to his Nollywood colleagues and Nigerians at large who have supported him spiritually and morally.

Controversial billboard depicts Virgin Mary holding a pregnancy test

A controversial new billboard shows the Virgin Mary holding a pregnancy test with a "positive" reading.

The billboard, called "Mary is in the pink," was purchased by the St. Matthews-in-the-City Church in Auckland, New Zealand. The church says the billboard featuring the revered religious figure aimed to "avoid the sentimental [and] trite" and "spark thought and conversation." It bears no text.
This billboard is only the latest in a string of provocative, holiday-themed billboards for the church, according to local TV station 3 News. In 2009, they ran another Christmas billboard featuring Mary and Joseph in bed with the tagline, "Poor Joseph, God was a hard act to follow."


Vicar Glynn Cardy said that this year St. Matthews wanted to focus on what it was like for a real mother with a real child. "It's about a real pregnancy, a real mother and a real child.  It's about real anxiety, courage and hope."
On the church's website, St. Matthews says the lack of text on the billboard is intended to provoke thought: "We hope to do so with an image and no words. We invite you to wonder what your caption might be."
The billboard will stay up until Christmas Day

Ikeja City Mall opens

Over a thousand people witnessed the grand opening of the $100 million Ikeja City Mall today, one of the biggest malls in the West African sub-region.
The mall, located in Alausa, Lagos, southwest Nigeria is built by Actis, a leading private equity investor alongside its project partners, Paragon Holdings and RMB Investment and Advisory.Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State declared the Mall opened
The space accommodates nearly 100 shops, including Shoprite’s latest generation store of over 4,400 square metres, KFC, Mr. Price, Twice as Nice and Aldo. The design of the mall incorporates informal meeting places, a food hall and five screen Silverbird Cinema. Bounded by access roads on three sides, the five-hectare site is ideally positioned for convenient parking and shopping.
Declaring the mall open, Fashola said the building of the mall in Ikeja represented a milestone and restored Ikeja to its rightful place as the retail hub of Lagos.

Man sent to prison for watching couple during sex

A man who hid in a couple’s bedroom at Idimu, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria watching them having sex in the night has confessed that he was not a thief neither did he attempted to harm the couple but only watching them to derive sexual satisfaction.
The accused, Raymond Obi Eze, 36 was caught under the bed by the man of the house, Mr. Leuise Chigozi who called his wife, Vicky, to come and see what he found.

An attempt by the accused to escape was foiled by the man who grabbed him and called neighbours to assist him arrest the intruder. Vicky, it was learnt, sustained injury during the melee.
He was arrested and handed over to the police at Idimu Station who arraigned him before the Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos on a two-count charge of unlawful entry and attempted murder.
The police charge sheet revealed that the incident happened at 8.30 p.m. Friday, 9 December, at 40, Ejigbo Road, Idimu, Lagos residence of the couple.
The charge did not reveal how the accused got into the room but disclosed that he was caught by the owner of the house who raised an alarm which attracted neighbours.
The complainant told the police that he caught him under the bed while sleeping with his wife.
Witnesses who assisted the couple to arrest the accused told the police that they believed what the complainant told them that the accused was watching him and his wife making love.
In his statement, Mr. Chigozi told the police that he was injured in the face when he grabbed the accused to prevent him from escaping.
At the station, the accused denied that he was a thief and pleaded for leniency. He allegedly confessed that he was only watching the couple and did not attempt to harm them.
He was later charged before Mrs. M. B. Folami of the Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court for offences contrary to Section 320 of the Criminal Code, Cap.17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum. When he could not fulfil the bail conditions, he was ordered to be remanded in prison custody at the Kirikiri Maximum Security Prisons, Apapa, Lagos.The matter has been adjourned till 18 January, 2012.

Man in court for attempting to kill T.B Joshua during service with a knife

For allegedly attempting to kill Prophet Temitope Joshua, founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations during a church service, a 29-year old man has been arraigned before the Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

The accused, Francis Ndubuisi, was alleged to have attempted to kill T.B. Joshua with a knife during a service on 22 November, 2011 at the the church’s auditorium in Ikotun.


The police alleged in the First Information Report of the incident that the accused was armed with knives and other dangerous weapons when he was arrested.

He was arraigned on a four-count charge of attempting to commit felony, assault, unlawful display of arms and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.

Mr. Paul Ojogu, the prosecuting police officer, told the court that offences were punishable under Sections 424, 126, 51 and 116 of the Criminal Code, Cap. C.17, Vol.11, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

Count two of the charge reads: “That you, Francis Ndubuisi, on 22 November, 2011, at the  Synagogue Church of All Nations, at Ikotun-Egbe, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully and without lawful justification or excuse distrupted an assembly of religious worship by assaulting Prophet Temitope B. Joshua and thereby committed and offence punishable under Section 126 of the Criminal Code, Cap. C17, Vol.11, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.”

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and the presiding magistrate, Miss F.M. Kayode, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The magistrate also ordered that the sureties must show to court receipts of payment of tax to the Lagos State government for three years and must present evidence of means of livelihood. She also directed that the addresses of the sureties must be verified by the prosecutor.

The case has been adjourned till 9 January, 2012 for trial.The defendant was moved to the Ikoyi Prisons when he could not meet the bail conditions.

Fantasia Barrino gives birth to Baby Boy

Fantasia Barrino has a new little backup singer. The American Idol season 3 winner gave birth to a baby boy, Dallas Xavier Barrino, Baby Dallas made his debut on Tuesday in North Carolina at 7 lbs., 9 oz. and 21 inches long. He joins big sister Zion, 10.

"I feel so blessed that my son Dallas Xavier was born healthy, and is a wonderful new addition to our family," Barrino, 27, tells source. "I thank all my fans for their well wishes and continued support."

Angry Father cuts off graduate's penis for raping his daughter

An angry father, Dennis Akpati, who caught a graduate of the Lagos State University, Ojo Lagos State, southwest, Nigeria, Seun Ogunbanwo in his house allegedly raping his 20-year old daughter (name withheld) and sliced his penis with a machete is to be charged to court for assault.

Ogunbanwo, a graduate of Business Administration who recently finished  his NYSC was allegedly caught having sex with Akpati’s daughter inside her father’s flat at 52, Tijani Alabi Street, Ijegun, on the outskirts of Lagos.


The angry father, it was learnt, attacked the graduate with a machete and beat him mercilessly. The unlucky graduate was seriously manhandled and later the machete was used to slice his penis to deter him from future attacks on girls.

He was handed over to the police who took him to the hospital for treatment and later charged with having an unlawful carnal knowledge of a 20-year old lady before the Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

The accused was brought to court by the police to face the charges but when the presiding magistrate, Mrs. M. B. Folami, saw the pitiable state of the accused, she ordered the police to arrest the father of the victim (Akpati) and others involved in the battering of the accused and charge them to court for assault.

She explained that under the law, the accused is presumed innocent until found guilty, adding that nobody should be allowed to take the laws in his hands.

Ogunbanwo was alleged to have sneaked into Akpati’s home when the victim was alone and forcefully had sex with her. The father allegedly caught him on top of his protesting daughter.

The girl, it was gathered, was crying and attempting to free herself from him when her father came in. The father was so angry that he reportedly took a machete and cut Ogunbanwo all over his body, including his penis.

Speaking with P.M.NEWS on his way to the hospital with his police escort, the accused said the girl was his friend and that they lived in the same area.He said that it was her father who macheted him when he met him in his house with his daughter. He said others later joined him in attacking him.

He did not deny that he slept with the girl.He was charged with housebreaking and rape, offences punishable under Sections 411 and 358 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and the court granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum. The matter has been adjourned till 18 January, 2011.

N3,000 to buy baby wears for their about-to-be-delivered baby. But because the 25-year-old housewife was not pleased with the amount; one thing led to another and “Nike held Garba’s shirt at the neck and immediately, the man fell down and died”, an eyewitness, Mr. Adewale Adeoye said.


The incident which took place in Omu-Aran, Kwara State, has left many residents of the area confused. Speaking further on the unfortunate incident, Mr. Adewale, who disclosed that Mrs. Nike had been married to two other men before the late Garba Ibrahim, said it was “the shouting from Garba’s room that woke us up around 5:30am.”

Sources disclosed that the wife has been detained at the Omo-Aran Police state for interrogation while the deceased has since been buried, according to Islamic rights.May God deliver us from the spirit of anger.

Music executive, John Atterberry dies after being shot by Sunset Boulevard Gunman

 A music executive has died after he was randomly shot by a crazed gunman while running a quick errand to the bank. John Atterberry, 40, passed away on Monday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, three days after he gunned down on Sunset Boulevard.
Mr Atterberry, who had worked with the Spice Girls and Jessica Simpson, was shot in the jaw and torso by gunman Tyler Brehm.

The 40-year-old, who worked as a film producer, was driving his Mercedes-Benz when he was seriously injured. The businessman had risen to vice-president at Death Row Records which produced artists such as Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur.
He later founded Infusion Music Group, a music publishing company with credits on albums by Michael Jackson, Christina Aguilera, Brandy, the Spice Girls and Jessica Simpson.Mr Atterberry's Facebook page was flooded with tributes from friends and colleagues.RIP

Nollywood director and actor,Daniel Ademinokan,handsome husband of star actress Doris Simon-Ademinokan has been thrown into a mournful state following the death of his father,Pa Richard Ademinokan who died at age 72 on early hours of Tuesday,December 6,2011.

In a chat with the popular director,he confirmed his Dad's demise adding that he was yet to meet with other members of the family as regards burial arrangements for his late father.We gathered that Pa Ademinokan who is survived by children and grandchildren had been ill for some time prior to his death.

South African woman executed in China for Drug smuggling

A 37 year-old woman by the name of Janice Bronwyn Linden from South Africa was executed in China for drug smuggling on Monday Dec 12, 2011.
The woman was arrested back in November 2008 at the Baiyun International Airport, in China  for smuggling 3 kgs of crystal methamphetamine.
Linden was said to have maintained her innocence despite the Chinese court giving her a two year reprieve in which to admit her responsibility. If she had done so, she would have served life imprisonment instead of being executed.
“But, the fact that she chose not to go that route, makes one wonder whether she was really guilty or not. When one faces the possibility of death, one will say and do anything. Janice, it seemed was not prepared to go down without a fight. This case needs to be fully investigated.”A friend of the family told reporters.
Two of her sisters were allowed an hour with her this morning before she was put to death by lethal injection. RIP Janice.
